When I was a young lad, I liked push cycles. I used to strip them down
change bearings and everything else, true to say I loved anything mechanical.
My first job at Dawe Instruments, I became an apprentice in electronics, went through the whole work areas of machine room & machine room inspection, to drawing room, to ultrasonics where I was required to build and test, also do prototype work along with testing prototypes out, and of course electronics and inspection to testing. Next was STC where I had to work in the prototype development department, I was given drawings and from those had to build from scratch. I married and moved to Northamptonshire and worked for a company called Sonatest, this work involved in all aspects of Ultrasonic's. From there I went to work for Cox & Wright, to be an electrician, had to assemble and wire up shoe machinery, made redundant. Out of work over a Christmas period and beyond. Applied for a job with Thorn domestic Appliances, became trained up to repair domestic appliances, washing machines, tumble dryers, microwave ovens, cookers from big ranges to built in ones, dishwashers and so on. Left that job to work for myself, doing what I loved to do, sorting out peoples problem on there washing machines/cookers/hobs-electric-gas-induction, also dryers dishwashers. In fact everything a mechanical/electrical guy could wish for, pure indulgence, and getting paid for it.
Now I have been retired since April 2012.
I belong to a local bike club 'Oakley Motorcycle Club' (OMC), I call them the Great OMC.
Married to Wendy for more years than - - I call her wife number one, she calls me!!!!!
I have a push bike, a Specialized Hardrock Sport 2012 edition mountain bike, no mountains in Northamptonshire though, plenty of rough track. I bought it so I could get fit.
