I watched "Meru" last night. Stunning cinematography, not to mention the natural beauty and the climbing skills! Also watching "Justified".... disc only from Netflix. A bit slow to start, but ramped up quickly and I now rate as quite good. The protagonist reminds me of Tommy Lee Jones' portrayal of a U.S. Marshal in "The Fugitive" and "U.S. Marshals".

First we had Danish/Swedish version of "The Bridge". Then we had the Mexican/American version. Now we have the English/French version called " The Tunnel". It follows the first season of Danish/Swedish version. It is currently running on public television.

This will be an American movie review. "Fastball" is a sports documentary directed by Jonathan Hock and narrated Kevin Costner. For baseball fans, this is a must. Could have been 5-10 minutes shorter. I streamed on Netflix.

"To be first: The Quest for Yangmolong" is about the first summit of Yangmolong in remote China. This is not as good as "Meru" in my opinion, but still has interesting footage of local people that is quite disturbing. I streamed on Amazon.

With the World Series going on, a couple of baseball videos are available onthe Smithsonian network. One is on Babe Ruth and the second is on Ted Williams. An interesting aside, I have an autographed Ted Williams baseball.

If you Google "Major League Legends" there will be 4 episodes. Hank Aaron and Lou Gehrig are covered. The Hank Aaron episode was excellent. Very similar story to Jackie Robinson.

Longmire is a good series on Netflix. Town Sheriff of of a modern mythical Wyoming town. The actor was one of the agents in the Matrix films. I think people would enjoy a somewhat "modern" western. The show is based on a book series.

I have not Stephen, but I will soon. Reading "Gone Girl" now. Brilliant.. even funny, if a man accused of killing his wife can be humorous. Read that "Jar City" has been turned into an incredible movie too.

Dag is a Norwegian series (3 seasons) telling the story of a relation therapist with personal issues and a very non-conformative way of treating people called Dag. It reminds me a bit of the original British version of Shameless in the fact the main character surely has psychological issues but when tempted to do so is able to convince you in a very eloquent way his look on life, relations, religion etc. is spot-on and so there is a perfectly valid reason for his psychological discontent with the world we are living in.
The best new series from the US I've encountered in the past year is ' This is us' a series about a (caucasian) family with a triplet, one of which dies at birth and is replaced with a black baby boy who was left at the doorstep of a fire station on the day of the birth of the triplets. The series jumps constantly through the families timeline and the script is very well written. I've shed at least one tear on every episode of the first season. Can't remember of any other series that had that impact on me.

Harlem is not exactly Europe, but found this Marvel based series on Netflix. Excellent. Have watched the series while on my indoor bike trainer and it helps me overcome the monotony. Come on spring!

"12 Monkeys" is a series on the Syfy channel. I am watching discs from Netflix. 2018 will be the 4th and final season. The series is loosely based on the 1995 movie of the same name with Bruce Willis and Brad Pitt. The movie was good as well.

Recommending 3 Canadian science fiction movies. 1."Cube" (made in 1997) , 2. "Cube Zero", and 3."Cube 2: Hypercube". They have developed a cult following. A lot of people do not like them, I did. It would help to be a science fiction fan. I liked "Cube 2: Hypercube" the best.
