Here are photos of a couple of home-built twin-engine Triumphs that I thought were rather creative. They were recently posted on the Royal Enfield forum.

Yesterday I saw these two custom modifications to the Suzuki S40 650cc single. It certainly makes them look a little more Savage.

there is a bit of a cottage industry of S40 customizations. I guess they are cheap to acquire and have that retro-look thumper engine (which may actually be retro in design ). I saw some in one of the mags that looked like decent customs.

Here is an early GS with a beautiful tank and an interesting and nicely tucked-in BMW-stamped accessory muffler.

Here's a couple of photos of two combinations taken during the BMW Einzylinder rally at Edersee (Germany) a week or so ago. This was probably the largest gathering of BMW 247 cc single cylinder machines in the whole of Europe. The weather was exceptional but the water level in the Edersee was the lowest in recent memory due to lack of rain and winter snow. More photos to be posted on another occasion.

Looks like a chopped XS650, shame as they're rather lovely unmodified

There are a few things about the chassis parts, such as the forks and the instrument cluster, of this Yamaha RD500 that just don't look quite right to me.

Finally a few interesting motorcycles came out of the woodwork today. Check out the exhaust pipe clamp on the Velocette.

The Mellow Vellow Fellows are a serious bunch. They ship their bike all over the world for rallies.
    i don't have that affliction.
Great pics by the way. Nice someone records these gatherings for posterior.

Interesting to see 'customised' Velos! Not my scene, but at least they look like real motorcycles! Thanks.

An early DucHonda? That had to be an interesting project. Kinda like Rosey Grier and Ray Milland in "The Thing With Two Heads".

I just came across this photo of my 1966 Suzuki B-100P parked in the wilds of the Panamanian jungle. Kind of creepy and the noise of the jungle sounded like Tarzan was swinging from tree to tree.

I thought this was interesting. According to what was recently posted on another BMS motorcycle forum, when BSA went out of business, a company by the name of Regal Precision Engineering, located in Southampton, England, bought the name and in 2013 produced 38 BSA motorcycles powered by a Yamaha SR500 engine. They recently sold the BSA name to the Indian motorcycle manufacturer Mahindra Two Wheelers - which likely made them a lot more profit than did the 38 BSA/Yamaha bikes. Mahindra plans to produce their own tiddlers badged as BSAs. Oh how the mighty have fallen.

Attached are photos of an interesting customized mid-70's CB-550 and a photo of a 1966 Suzuki B-100P just like the one that I rode around Panama for 18 months. Of course, mine was the faster red model.

Also attached is a photo of a Kawasaki butt blaster. I bet that feels good at maximum volume.

Another Boss Hog showed up today. This one comes with a NO2 bottle just in case the rider needs to get off to a quick start. Also note the car tire for traction. You got to be a big boy if you want to ride this Hog.

I like the CB500 with the universal tires. I had a 73 500/4 and put a Kerker exhaust on it when the original mufflers started rusting out.
ALL of 30-35 hp on a good day.

I bought one of these little workhorses brand new 1973 to commute to work rather than take my new car.
I thought then and still do, that it was one of the sweetest machines I ever owned in terms of looks, convenience and efficiency.
200 GBP paid for the 90 cc model, a years road tax, a free helmet and some change. It served me well until I sold it in part exchange for a bodged up Triumph Daytona.
    Maps are OK but.
They don't record just whereabouts you were lost!

I found a photo of me on my younger brother's Honda step-through 90, with my youngest brother on the back. And a photo of the 90 parked at California's Big Basin Redwood State Park sometime during the late 1960's. Also attached is another picture of me on what looks like a Yamaha Trail 80, with little chubby on the back again. I don't know anything about that photo.

I saw a really nice early-70's Triumph TR-6 (I think) today. It sure was clean and must have been restored as I don't think they looked that nice coming out of the factory. Next to it was a 2017 (?) Husqvarna Endruo 701. Check out the weird headlight.

Three more photos of two motorcycles that were parked at Alice's Restaurant today. A very clean H-D street tracker (with a dual-purpose front fender) and a custom Big Twin with really long "mufflers". Those things are even longer than the stock muffler that came on my Royal Enfield.

I think I had a trail 50. 2 stroke. I have a pic somewhere her of my getting air in Cal City development.
1963 might have been an 80cc. I got it from a friend when he upgraded to a Hodaka Ace 100.

Anyone for a Gold Wing bobber? The owner says he has about 400 pounds of unused Gold Wing parts piled up in his garage.

Attached are photos of old motorcycles that will remind you of the way dirt racing used to be. The pictures were taken at a car show in downtown San Rafael, CA yesterday.

I saw a very clean 2010 Ural sidecar rig last Sunday and I don't think I have seen this orange color combination before.

It sure has been a long time since I have posted any motorcycle photos on the forum. (I think we know why that is.) But to start the year off, here are a couple of nice bikes that I saw yesterday.

This weekend I saw an interesting home-built motorcycle, powered by a 1994 Honda CB750 engine. It looks kind of funky, but it seemed to be well built and unique in a Mad Max sort of style.

I attended the yearly car show at the local high school today and took these photos before the rain started and I left for home on my Royal Enfield, which also got a few looks. Photo 39 is of the inside of a CHP cruiser. Talk about the potential for "distracted driving".

Is that an Ace 100 Super Rat?
A friend had an Ace 90 and lived in Cal City. Worked in Boron. The guys would ride cross country to work at night. They had a cache of booze under a bush they'd hit up on the way home.
The fink wouldn't sell me the bike after he got a Triumph Scrambler. but the Triumph scared him and sold the it while I was away in the army.
    The good ol' days!

Here are photos of a really clean H-D panhead combination. And a couple of photos of a Fiddle III.

Check out the frame and suspension on this 1975 Kawasaki KZ 750 Mach III. A Suzuki front fork, two discs, swing arm, rear shock, wheel and another disc brake. Quite a change from the original. Also attached is a picture of a nice Yamaha 400.

I saw a couple of really clean 1970's two-stroke motorcycles today. It brought back pleasant memories of blue smoke, ring-ding noises and simple motorcycles that relied on the rider to get them down the road.

When I bought it in Hamburg, in 1965, I had no idea that the Honda CB92 "Benly" would become a classic.

Because I didn't know any better, I rode it from London to Istanbul with the stock toolkit, a tube patch kit, and a bottle of 90 wt gear oil.

I tried drag racing one of those Hondas with my 1962 Vespa 125. The fellow who owned the bike had the race kit with the megaphone mufflers installed on his bike, along with the accessory tachometer. We started out side-by-side on our subdivision street. He revved the bike up to an indicated 14K rpm on the tach, feathered in the clutch and completely blew me off - naturally. That was the last time I tried that. I don't know what happened to the CB92 (it might have been an "R" model) A couple of months later it stopped coming around the area. You could hear it a mile off. Perhaps the cops ran him out of town or, more likely, it spent its last days on a racetrack.

Attached is a Honda ad from the April 1962 issue of Cycle World magazine and a Yamaha ad from the February 1962 issue of the same magazine. My first motorcycle, after owning the Vespa and a 1963 Lambretta 150Li, was a 1963 Yamaha YD-3, the next year's model of the YD-2 shown in the Yamaha ad.

I like that DT360. My father's friend owned a Yamaha dealer around that time. I used go sit in showroom and on the bikes.

Being Father's Day, here is a pic of my Dad on his DT250 with my brother on back. Note the typical 1970's commute to work ATGATT. Open face helmet, fashion sunglasses > check!

My brother later bought the 250 when he turned 16 and got his license - and I bought my brother's DT100.
