The fellow who owned the bike had the race kit with the megaphone mufflers installed on his bike, along with the accessory tachometer. We started out side-by-side on our subdivision street. He revved the bike up to an indicated 14K rpm on the tach, feathered in the clutch and completely blew me off - naturally. That was the last time I tried that. I don't know what happened to the CB92 (it might have been an "R" model) A couple of months later it stopped coming around the area. You could hear it a mile off. Perhaps the cops ran him out of town or, more likely, it spent its last days on a racetrack.

Attached is a Honda ad from the April 1962 issue of Cycle World magazine and a Yamaha ad from the February 1962 issue of the same magazine. My first motorcycle, after owning the Vespa and a 1963 Lambretta 150Li, was a 1963 Yamaha YD-3, the next year's model of the YD-2 shown in the Yamaha ad.
I also started on a Vespa, a Sears/Allstate 125. The only way I could outrun neighborhood dogs was to drop a pint of model airplane fuel (methanol, nitromethane, castor oil) in the tank, which perked it up considerably and produced a wonderful exhaust smell.

In 1962, a 250 or 305cc motorcycle was considered a midweight, and the CB450, introduced in 1964, was the top of Honda's line; now they are beginner bikes.

Well, this may not be a classic, but it sure is strange. I saw this rolling bit of bling at Alice's Restaurant today, complete with a 26" diameter wheel and some sort of audio system saddlebags. Or were they ground effect suction fans?

I saw this trike today and was really impressed with the build quality. The owner said that he built and designed the entire trike himself. It is powered by a twin-turbo V-8. The two turbos are the things on each side of the engine. The black pipes are the exhaust exiting from the turbo chargers. He claims that the trike produces over 500 hp at the rear wheel on a dyno. The "wing" at the very back of the trike is its radiator. When I asked him how he managed to get it registered at the DMV he said that he lived in California for 44 years before relocating to Arizona, where he had no problem getting it registered. You just never know what you will see next at Alice's Restaurant.

    Also at Alice's was a nice mid-1960's Honda 305 Scrambler and a vintage H-D 45ci flathead.

Not my cup-of-tea on the trike but I do admire the craft and vision that went into it. That little Honda on the other hand...

I'm still loving my 2019 Honda Super Cub C125. Here's its gran daddy the 1958 Super Cub.

    Ducati 500 Pantah..

I had a chat with its owner. He bought little Pantah new in 1981, on his 21st birthday.

Ian,,, that's now the IGA grocery store across the street from Jamberoo Pub. Check out the pic of the little Ducati Pantah. The building is in the background.

A pretty little town Jamberoo, more a village than a town. A cross between an English rural village and a small Australian country town. It's in the middle of some pristine dairy country and fabulous riding roads, and only 20 minutes from home. Jamberoo actually has a Croquet field. I nearly bought a 1/4 acre building block in the late 1970s, not far from the pub but couldn't quite afford it. I wish I did though.

Here's the same building taken from the other side and about 100 years later.

Today I saw a really clean Ducati 2010 (I think) GT1000 today and an Aprilia RSV V60 parked next to it. And I almost forgot to attach a photo of a Royal Enfield Himalayan with an Senior-friendly accessory clock.

    " Senior-friendly accessory clock."

Looks like something the White Rabbit would be riding to get to his very important date!
Probably at a high rate too!

There were accessories available for the Model T also for food preparation. Nothing new here just practical use of normally lost energy.
Saw a guy that has a BBQ on his sidecar frame so he could cook on the way to camp.

I recall seeing something about that. Early days of roads and auto touring. No roadside restaurants or drive thrus back then. Brought your picnic basket for a roadtrip. Being able to heat something would be a nice convenience.

Check out this interesting BMW airhead "bobber" that I saw today at Alice's Restaurant. And I will toss in a Suzuki SV650 bobber that is not nearly as nicely done, in my opinion.

Winter is over, spring has arrived, the sun is out, the weather is dry and warm and the fair weather motorcycle and car owners are finally returning to Alice's Restaurant including Porsches and Ferraris. Meanwhile the bathrooms have been replaced by Port-a-Pots. Attached are some photos that I took yesterday. Perhaps you can tell me what this strange motorcycle is supposed to be. Note the see-through fuel tank and air cleaner housing.

Sorry about some of the photos being sideways and upside down. I have no idea how that happened or what to do about it. They are all right-side up on my computer files.

It appears that what we saw this weekend at Alice's. It was a Confederate. Probably a P-51 model in basic black instead of chrome. It is interesting that the bike had no brand or model name on the frame. Possibly the name was removed to be politically correct in the Bay Area. https://www.confederate.com/showroom

Here is what appears to be a 100-year old daily rider. The darn photos are upside down again, even though they are right-side up in my files. When I try turning them over in my computer files, they still show upside down here. It has got to be something about taking photos with my cell phone camera. So if you want to view these pictures right-side up you will have to download them on to your computer and rotate them around. Sorry about that.

A friend had a 1911 Excelsior 350, belt drive. It was a clean bike, probably an older restoration. He had sold it for a $27,000.

Do you need something to read today while locked in your home? Here is a road test of a 1961 Matchless G12CSR.

I like the true v. indicated speed comparison which is the way it still is. Wonder how many Matchless riders claimed at the meet that "They" had done 120 on theirs !

I saw this mid-1970's 750cc Suzuki water-cooled, three-cylinder, two-stroke (called a Water Buffalo in the U.S. and a Kettle, I believe, in the UK) yesterday. The owner said it had 140K miles on the clock and that he overhauled the top end at 90K miles. It gets 28 miles per gallon. He clearly has made a number of modifications over the years, include an entirely new front end. An interesting motorcycle that you didn't see very often when they were new, much less 45 years later.

Fair few modifications on that one, like it.

Quite by chance I was following what I think was a 75 or 76 registered one a couple of hours ago heading back to base heading towards Corby. One of the left expansion chambers looked lose so didn't get too close but can still smell the 2 stroke on my jacket now.

    Happy daze.

A couple of interesting motorcycles showed up at Alice's Restaurant this morning. And I will also toss in two photos of a well-used Brammo Empluse electric motorcycle.

Here are three photos of a nicely modified Suzuki GT750 tea kettle - or whatever they were called that I saw at Alice's Restaurant last Sunday. It looks like a daily runner.

I bet you will see more 1953 Puch 250's on the road than you will 1971 BSA DOHC 350 Furys. I put a $500 deposit down on one at my local BSA dealer (which is now a successful surfing shop) and guess what? It never arrived and after a year my dealer returned my deposit and admitted that it was pretty much vaporware - although I am pretty sure he didn't use that term.

Here are some photos that I took at Alice's Restaurant this morning. It was a very busy Father's Day crowd this morning. The line formed up 20 minutes before they opened and stayed that way until I left at 10 am.

Check out these contrasting motorcycles that saw at Alice's Restaurant today. The first one appears to be a 1962 Honda 125cc Benly Super Sport CB-92, with some production racing parts on it. It was ridden up by a 6' tall Chinese lady. Also, attached is a photo of a 1962 Honda new product press release that I found in the February 1962 Cycle World magazine.

As a contrast, also attached is a monster custom H-D bagger with a very large front wheel and a really low rear end.

For those who are aware of my sidecar racing adventures in the dim past and for all who enjoy vintage BMW photographs, I am posting these from an antique motorcycle event in Chico, CA, on Memorial Day this year. These are from the Ishii Chapter of the AMCA (Antique Motorcycle Club of America). The chapter's annual show and swap meet.

Reportedly, this OHC 500cc BMW is one of 25 built in 1951. Some were built as sidecar rigs and others as solo racers. There are eight known to still exist.

Richard, the 125cc CB92 was my first real licensed M/C.
Mine was a ‘61, in blue, the gas tank was aluminum, came stock with megaphones.
Bought it couple years old with a crankshaft problem when I was 14.
Rebuilt the engine myself with paperboy money.
The early 125 & 150 Benly had crank problems, but fast & fun.
    Thanks for the photos.

Attached are some photos of three motorcycles that were parked in and around Alice's Restaurant yesterday that I found interesting. Nothing old or odd, but I did find them more fun to look at than three pastel Japanese eco-boxes.
