Funny isn't it, I thought we British had a monopoly on talking incessantly about the weather ..... yet everyone else has more interesting weather than we do ...... yup, it's still grey, drizzly and bleedin' cold here in Yorkshire . If we're really lucky, there could be some freezing fog in the morning - hurrah (not!)
By the way, just how cold IS a witch's tit? Not something the chap from the Met office has ever quantified ....

There seems to be some lack of hard evidence as to how cold a witch's tit is ; Furthermore, experts in the field have stated, and I quote, "Unfortunately, theory behind the thermodynamics of thaumaturgic mammaries is sadly under-investigated,"

My experience has been that being cold as a witch's tit is almost as cold as freezing the balls off a brass monkey.

For the historic definition of what a brass monkey is.....

It is a brass tray for holding cannon balls. The expression " cold enough to freeze the balls off a brass monkey" came from the fact that, in extreme cold conditions, the brass monkeys would contract, expelling the cannon balls they were holding.

A Witch's tit is well, just that.

Here in the North East US, we have 8" - 12" of snow on the ground. So the only thing I'm riding is the snow shovel and the keyboard. Which brings me to a find on the MV Motorrad web site. MV Snow Claws Set and for Xtrem Driver - Snow Chains for Motorcycles - http://www.mv-motorrad.de/lshop,show...161152744,.htm. All yours for 110,60 EUR's + tax and shipping.
Rob are we going to see these on the Depot web site?

The Mediterranean sounds good to me! Right here in the Colorado Rockies it's 9* F (-13* C) and roads are snowpacked. It'll be a little while before I get out again.

We made it late into Mesa,AZ after a 3 1/2 hour delay out of Rapid City,SD. -8 in SD and it was like +45 11PM in Mesa. Today, nice nice nice in Mesa,AZ. This morning was shorts and short sleeves at upper 50's and it was up maybe in mid 60s. Outstanding, my kids think that it is instant summer!! So off to my end laws up in Kearney,AZ and it was just over 60 degrees up here. Kids helped, put up Xmas lights. My son tells Grandpa he never put up Xmas lights in short sleeves and short pants ever before! That was fun. So I just found someone’s wireless signal here in Kearney,AZ to get out on. Theres no snow insight and loving the weather here, thay have no idea what winter is. Merry Xmas to you all from AZ. P.S. I hope to go see all three BMW bike dealers soon.

It was 64 F in Scottsdale, today, TNT. Believe me, having grown up in NY and Chicago, I have a great idea of what winter is - that's why I have live here now almost 30 years.

56 F (13.3 C) tomorrow after rare rain here. 58 F Thursday, mostly sunny, and either more rain that night, and 53 F next day, or no rain and 61 F (about 16 C). That's our winter.

The snow & wind has stopped here in Santa Fe, but it's headed down to 8 F tonight. If they haven't already done it, they'll probably shut down I-40 thru Albuquerque as they're having some nasty wind to go with the ice already on the roads.

In self defense we're going to head for FL in a about 10 days so I can go ride with a buddy down in the Keys. Riding up & down a 125-mile long 2-lane road is boring... but it's warm!!

Six or seven bikes showed up for our weekly BMW Club of Colorado breakfast in Morrison this morning. 15* F (-9 *C). Not me though, I drove my SUV. Still some ice and packed snow on my road. If it stays above freezing today, I might be able to get out for a ride tomorrow.

Weatherman said it's supposed to be cloudy and 60 today here just West of the DC Metro area... Roads are damp but took a ride around noon and the thermometer read 39... The thermometer on the back porch read 39 at 2:00 PM.

Well - they got the cloudy right and I still got a ride, so I'm not going to complain too much. Tomorrow it's going to be 62 (obviously with fudge factor of about 20 degrees!)

It may not be as much fun to ride dressed like the Michelin man,
    http://photos.vectortrust.com/pages/...-bibendum.html

    but it's still fun!

I'm with you, shu. Mrs. Bowman's little boy would have arrived in the SUV as well! 'Course we don't see as much really cold stuff as you guys do further north so I guess we're inclined to be wimps!

The weather demons took pity on us last nite and only dropped the temps to 17 F. May see a high of 25 F today, but it should start warming up by Monday.

The way things have been going lately we should see the same thing in about 2 days. Your OR weather has been a better forecast than the local dudes can generate!

Weathermen (the guesser type - not the domestic terrorists) are the only 'professionals' who can be completely wrong and still keep their jobs .

My fancy new indoor/outdoor thermometer (Christmas present) read 61F when I looked at it a bit ago - will get to ride the bike to church makes the 'old' folks think I'm crazy - of course it's supposed to rain this afternoon but only partly cloudy right now - trained weather observation aka looking out the skylight to see the cloud zipping by!

So after - 20C, we've gone up to +11, in the space of a few days and all the snow is melting. Must be why these two were found grazing in the field next to ours...

Not really nice enough for a ride since the wind is strong and the cold is on its way back in the next few hours, though.
"The motorcycle, being poorly designed for both flight and marine operation, sustained significant external and internal damage," police noted.

That 5 F more than we'll be today, nelsonburns, (57 F) after two or three days of rain last week and snow through all the high country, here for the week. And the cold spell brought several nights of frost here (> 32 F, last night 28 F) killing many plants in its hold. Yet that snow means plentiful water for the State, so YAHOO!

But, back to usual here, as soon as tomorrow, 61 F and 68 through the rest of the week. Spring is here.

Not really nice enough for a ride since the wind is strong and the cold is on its way back in the next few hours, though.
Beautiful! Nice place to live, Mike.

Yahoo! Roads did melt off and I tiptoed down the canyons onto the plains for a nice ride today. Weather: 45-50* F, mostly sunny, with some gusty winds. Two other riders from my club and I went north along the foothills of the Rockies, found some nice, clean curves around Carter Lake and Horsetooth Reservoir. Got a coffee in Loveland, CO, and turned around. About 200 miles total, it was nice to get out. Supposed to stay nice for a few days now.

Nice this morning here. About 20-21C when we went for a little ride up to West Head and back along McCarrs Creek Road (Sydney's Norther Beaches) It is about 22C now and a bit rainy unfortunately. We were hoping to get out for another ride this afternoon.

It's around 32 C and very muggy with storms to the north around Noosa area and a few more forming on the ranges to the south-west. Supposed to be the same tomorrow and we're looking at going for a ride 70kms up the road to Motorcycle Country at Gympie to find some new summer gloves for me. Their prices are usually quite a bit cheaper than the dealers (spelt with an 'st') here on the Sunnie Coast.
    Thank god for vented jackets.

Crazy warm front moved through yesterday and it went up to 66 F!
My brother and I rode about 80 miles, part of it through a little rain...went to area Ducati dealer at the half-way point and stared in the window at the Hyper, Monster, superbike....*sigh*
Then back through Hershey, Pa and a blast down some highway through woods. So nice to ride in late December.

I got my new vented gloves this morning but it didn't help a great deal coming home just now.
We saw the temp get to 37.5 for about 5 mins on the highway in the traffic, so we turned off and took some back roads home. It was about 2 to 3 degrees cooler and at those temps anything makes a difference. More storms predicted for tonight.

Yep. Now, it will be sunny and 70's in AZ now! I'm on a 6:00am out of here on my way back to Wyoming! We had snow around Kearny Friday night and Saturday morning Saturday, I got to go out to SpeedWorld dirt track and watch family race/ride was a nice day. I'm back in Mesa,AZ at my brother end laws for the big plane ride home. It has been wet and cool most of the time here. Still warmer then Wyoming! Tonight we all just got back from the Phoenix zoo to see the lights! It was a nice night for the trip to the zoo. All in all the weather here in Arizona was good to us, being from Northern Wyoming.

    No different to the cold.
I think we suffered more than the bike, it just kept purring along like it should.
On the highway I thought I'd do a bit of feeling around (the bike, not Rose on the back)and could feel, when pressing my glove against the frame, the heat through the glove.
But there was no noticable difference through the Draggin jeans with even sqeezing the knees against the frame for some time. So, all I can say is that they work for me.
Has anyone else tried the same wearing Draggins???

Move, and we can go riding together.

Feel free to pick on me when we are running close or above 80 F to anywhere from 100 to over 115 F in what we call "Summer".

    Jordan,

I just made it in! It is 26 degrees and the wind is 25mph Gust at 30mph. First thing I had to shovel snow at the door so we could get the stuff into the house. Yes, the garage was full of the kid’s cars so we could not just drive in! I just got finished with the snow blower to clear out the drive way to move the cars. The drive home from Rapid City, SD was way windy with blowing snow. I bet the wind was 60mph some places. Home sweet home at last! Maybe highs of 40 tomorrow, now that will be nice. P.S. AZ-J have a good/safe ride this week for me. Watch out for all the speed cameras/cars there evrywhere, unreal.
