Attention - Password and Security Update

Hello all,

Over the next few days we will be implementing some changes to our forum password strength and password expiration policies. To make sure you continue having the best experience possible on the community, we regularly monitor the site and the Internet to keep everyone's account information safe. We've recently become aware of a potential risk to some accounts coming from outside of this community. Just to be safe, we are implementing the following changes to improve security even further:

1) We are asking everyone to change their passwords (and will force a one time reset). Along with every user on the forum, new passwords will need to be more complex, and can't be simple words (sorry, you can't have "fluffy" as your password anymore!). Please use a password unique to this community. Reusing passwords can expose your account indirectly when other websites (Twitter, Linkedin, Badoo, etc) are compromised; and

2) Your passwords will expire on a 365 day basis. When you login on the 366th day, you will have to change it.

We'll also be sending out an email to users to let them know about the changes, in upcoming weeks.

Control Panel > Edit Email and Password.

However, the system will force change your password, and email you. You can follow the criteria listed in creating a new password

You can change it now, but will be required to change it again once the system rolls through.

This seems to be a big thing with forums lately. All my favorite haunts are pushing the same message to members.

Is there a delay in sending out the new password emails? A regular contributor here (Richard230) has not received anything and is currently locked out.

I did mine. What a handful of entries to get set up. But the new PW worked this morning.
I notice there are a couple odd things in the personal info area. When i bring up a notification the link to the thread doesn't show but when I click on the blank space it goes to the link.
Maybe it's one of those enduring quirks?

Thanks to Gino and Martin at Admin Support, I am back in business and able to post my dribble on the forum again. The resetting of my password wasn't nearly as difficult as I had imagined. All is well now. Also a big thanks to Yoda for acting as my intermediary and passing along the message regarding my problem.

As I said, some users have a little problem: everytime they try to get into the forum they must repeat the log in procedure even if they have already checked the "remember me" box at the previous access. I know that this is a minor issue, but it means that something in the system is not working well.
We also noticed that since the last update the thanks button is missing in some discussions. I don't know if it depends on the update or not, but I can say that in the past this issue was related to some forum update.

Could you link to some of the threads where it doesn't show up? We can look in to the forum permissions for it.

Halfpint, This Roadpizza, I cannot get on the forum. I need to have a temp password sent to recover my longtime account.

Any help in this would be appreciated. I have tried numeriuos times in the past and get a message as to where to go but, it sends me back to the orignal site with no password to work with.
