This issue is logged and waiting on a fix.

As you may know, we have been migrating our sites over to Google Cloud in order to help with outages and site speed, as well as added security. While doing this change, we are also converting the site to https. which you can read more about here https://techterms.com/definition/https

You may have noticed these changes may be causing some site issues. We are working with Google and VB to help us find long term solutions to these issues instead of bandage fixes and patches that seem to break more than they repair.

We understand that this is impacting your experience on the site, and we hope you understand that we are working on addressing all issue. We apologize for any inconvenience, and hope to have the forums back up and running asap.

If you are having issues, please try to only report if you are certain that they have not already been logged. This will ensure the support team is focused on identifying new issues and helping test the fixes as they are rolled out.

Thank you for your reply Jeff, we understood you were having major problems trying to upgrade the Forum and enhance it's security - and that's great, anything to make the site more secure. Even if it takes a few days, weeks or months all I ask is that you keep us informed.
We will wait patiently for you to resolve the issues.

Any updates on resolving the posting of pictures issue as you know many of our sections do rely on photos to keep the forum/threads going. Just asking

Of techs are currently working in getting the image issue under control, sorry for the inconvenience. In the meantime, you can still use sites like imgur to link your images.

I worry about the future of this site, one of my favorite places to visit. From a business standpoint this can't be much a money generator. Look at the vendors list and most have not posted anything in years. I hope I'm missing the big picture and this site remains profitable and afloat. A big shout out to the moderators that help keep it up and running. Your efforts are appreciated by all the users.

HEAR! HEAR! WildWilly well said! I've only recently become a financial supporter to this forum which is also one of my favourite sites and I felt I should make a contribution in order to keep it going. Lets hope the hosts feel it still is viable to keep running

As long as you folks keep coming back to the site, we will do our best to keep it up and running. The recent issues are (ironically) a result of improvements to the site: our migration to a new server will improve site speed, stability and security (once we get the kinks ironed out) and the implementation of https was intended to be another layer of security for site users. Unfortunately, adding these updates has broken a few things in the process, but our techs are looking into it and hope to get things resolved soon.

We know that images are an important element of any forum so our techs have this issue high on the priority list to be fixed. Thanks for you patience while they work to get the issues figured out.

I assume to post that picture you used a different method of uploading than us mere mortals. I don't know anything about uploading to ULRs (whatever they are) or how you do it, I would need an idiots guide to start (the ULR thing is just a guess at what you do).

Thanks Terry. I use a photo handling site called SmugMug. It is nice program for storing, editing and then transferring images via link. As I remember, the learning curve is steep but short.

Cheers Mark, but again I'd need an idiot guide. I found a recent thread where you tried to help us numbskulls but fingers crossed they might have sorted it before we've got to grips with the URL thingy.
Don't get me wrong, I was an electronics engineer but don't find it easy these days getting my head around new technology. Things have moved on so quickly in recent years, if you took your eye off the ball like I have, it's difficult to catch up.

Am sorry to say there are few teens here with anything that remotely describes a brain - that was cruel. No there's only one IT Consultant - and he moved away! If you describe to most after a second or two their eyes glaze over and fall asleep. If there was someone I'd perch on his or her shoulder until I got it right and inwardly digested.
I've just come across a Zoomtac box that I've been lent to see what it does - the owners haven't a clue!!

That was a very fine joke Willy. The joke is we're in the middle of a heatwave, as you probable are in Iowa so it's one of your best, keep it up!
