South Carolina incumbent Republican Senator Lindsey Graham won a fourth term. Despite many polls throughout the last few months of the race showing a very close race as well as Harrison having record fundraising numbers, Graham defeated Harrison by 54.4% to 44.2% and a margin of 10.3% in the November 3, 2020 general election.
4 days ago,,A Republican senator has backed Donald Trump’s daughter-in-law as a candidate for North Carolina senator in the aftermath of the impeachment trial.
Lara Trump is married to the former president’s son Eric, and worked in television production before joining Trump’s presidential campaign in 2016.
Speaking to Fox News, Senator Lindsey Graham claimed she was the “biggest winner” of the impeachment trial, although struggled to get her name right, referring to her as “Laura”.
He continued: “My dear friend Richard Burr, who I like and I’ve been friends to a long time, just made Laura Trump almost a certain nominee for the senate seat in North Carolina.
“Certainly I would be behind her because she represents the future of the Republican Party.”
Current senator Richard Burr – who was one of the seven Republicans who voted to convict in the impeachment trial – will retire from his seat at the end of his term in 2022.

Those Texan MAGATs should stop whinging and rejoice that their fellow Republican voters who run Griddy* are doing so well out of the crisis. After all, they signed up to buy power from the grubbiest company in the Lone Star State in the first place.
They all stood in circles chanting to Make America Greedy Again, stupidly thinking that a state with Ted Cruz as a Senator would be looking out for their widdle best interwests.
If'n only they'd spent more time reading the fine print on the Griddy contract and less time wandering around toting six shooters looking for brown folk to shoot they'd have been real fine and dandy, y'all.
Coulda saved a few electricity dollars to buy another gurn, too. Plussen some ammo.
* Even the dumbasses who run the company can't spell Greedy.
Well it seems that power gouging in Texas is now yesterday's news. Today's news is that some plumbers are screwing Texas residents by charging many times more than usual for their services to repair busted pipes. Why? Because they can. The example mentioned was one plumber charging a Texas resident $8K to repair their freeze-damaged water pipes in their home. And no, Ted Cruz wasn't mentioned as being the homeowner.

Thats the American way now, after four years with "All time biggest grifters" in the Whitehouse and folks "Fighting Like Hell" to keep it all going its pretty hard to think the plumbers aren't going to jump on the "take what you ever you can get program",,,. Hope for there sake they get paid up front,,!!
I heard on the noon news that Trump got kicked out of the Supreme Court today. He wanted them to tell the New York State Attorney General that they couldn't have his financial records. But the Supremes were not buying it and told New York to help yourself to his documents and accountant's correspondence. It is probably time for another fire in his accountant's record room. I hear this happens all of the time. Apparently his financial records are very flammable.

Hay Richard, hadn't seen the news today,,. Thats a real big deal, the Supreme court has been sitting on this for 4 months,,. They ruled on this once already it was appealed under different law,,. Also those records are held by various institutions including Banks and the US Revenue agency so they are available,,. Trumps C.F.O. Allen Weisselberg knows where the bodies are buried, he wont be able to snub his nose at the Justice Department now that Bill Bar is out,,. A lot of people will be very interested in this development,,.
Including this guy? Mark Pomerantz, A former fed who brought down one Teflon Don is coming for Trump.
Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance recently hired a mob-busting ex-prosecutor to help him investigate former President Donald Trump over a range of alleged financial fraud — and the new member of the team has already interviewed a key player in the high-profile probe, according to people familiar with the matter.
Mark Pomerantz, a veteran white-collar attorney who prosecuted former Gambino crime family boss John “Junior” Gotti and other mobsters in the 1990s, was tapped by Vance as a special assistant district attorney on Feb. 3, a source close to Vance’s office said he was hired specifically for the Trump inquiry.
Another source told the Daily News that Pomerantz interviewed Michael Cohen, Trump’s former personal attorney, on Thursday.
The source said Thursday’s sit-down with Pomerantz was Cohen’s fifth interview with Vance’s team, suggesting the ex-Trump attorney is of key interest to the DA as he ramps up his investigation now that the former president is no longer in the White House.
Tax returns
The order that will allow the Manhattan district attorney's office to obtain Trump's tax returns was a mere 16 words long, and there was no explanation for the action or even a public breakdown of the vote count.
The last term the justices did reject Trump's broad claims of immunity in a 7-2 vote but sent the case back to the lower courts to allow Trump to make other arguments. The lower courts ruled against Trump again, catapulting the case back to the high court.
I heard a legal pundit yesterday say that if Trump was brought up on criminal charges he would likely show up in court in a wheelchair claiming that he is too frail and too old to be locked up. (This tactic has been done before with success by some really bad people.) He also claimed that white color crime is given a break by many judges and he thinks that even if Trump if found guilty of financial crimes, he will get off with a very light sentence. In other words, he won't get the Al Capone treatment. Too bad Alcatraz is now a Federal tourist attraction, instead of a Federal prison.

All true, plus this guys had a lot of luck rigging the system if you look at his history, both the past 5 years and previously as well,,. Bottom line, he and his grifter organization will be spending a great deal of there attention & resources defending themselves from a whole host of State and Federal crimes including civil actions,,.
Just about certain he has a pocket pardon, so expect that to play itself out in the Supreme court as well,,!!
Donald Trump’s former lawyer Michael Cohen said that the ex-president might have issued secret pardons to himself and his children during his tenure, which he will reveal if he is indicted. Talking to MSNBC, Mr Cohen said he believes Mr Trump has already pardoned himself, his lawyer Rudy Giuliani, and his children in what he termed as “pocket pardons” to save themselves from criminal conviction if needed.

That is just crazy! I am not sure that even the conservatives on the Supreme Court will buy into secret pocket pardons. I wouldn't think anyone would want that goofy idea to take hold for future presidents.

Richard it was only last month that conservatives turned a blind eye to other 'conservatives' breaking in to the capitol resulting in death.
Why would Trump pardoning himself cause the conservative judges to even blink?
I doubt that conservative judges would be very happy if the mob had broken into the Supreme Court. It all depends upon who's foot gets stepped on. In any case, the conservative judges are looking to the Constitution for guidance when they make decisions and I am pretty sure that pocket vetoes are not mentioned in that document. So there is hope that won't become a thing.

Why would Trump pardoning himself cause the conservative judges to even blink?
The U.S. Constitution establishes three separate but equal branches of government: the legislative branch (makes the law), the executive branch (enforces the law), and the judicial branch (interprets the law).
One thing those Conservative Judges will need to consider is that they are actually undermining there own power as an equal branch of government, AKA "self pardons"= Banana Republic = may not suit everyone including the Supreme Court?
Trump’s influence on American jurisprudence has been the quietest and most successful part of his destructive Presidency. He has appointed more than two hundred judges to federal courts, including three on the supreme court surpassing any other recent President. He has also made sure that the judges he has selected for these lifetime appointments are among the youngest ever—on average, forty-eight years old—insuring the longevity of their impact. And, with eighty-five per cent of his appointees being white, he has cemented the gross mismatch between the federal judiciary and the public.
The process of appointing judges to the US Supreme Court is a farce.
The judges are specifically selected to maintain the biases of the sitting president and Congress. The branches are not equal in power when one or other gets to dictate who is allowed to serve in the other branch.
The people may be a tad unhappy if the Supreme court simply decided and selected who would be president or senator for example. It sounds ridiculous, but that is precisely what could occur if the current rules for the "equal" branches were equally applied.
It appears from his speech yesterday at CCAP in Florida that Trump is on a search and destroy mission against the more common sense members of the Republican Party. If he succeeds it will be time to establish a third party in the U.S. in my opinion. A bull in a china shop hardly does justice to his political plans.

I heard the cheering from the MAGATs in the crowd whenever the Pumpkin repeated one of his lying claims of winning the election.
*Couldn't Pass At College. This is a gathering for Republicans who cannot read. It is a nice outing where they gather to decry the use of masks, the decline of society since brown folk were given equal rights and campaign for Fox News to be broadcast for all 25 hours of the day.

Well, it is hard for me to keep all of those political terms correct. MAGA, MAGAT, CPAC and all of the other names being thrown around. However, my favorite horror of the CPAC conference, besides Ted Cruz's and Trump's speeches, was the picture of some of the attendees kissing a golden statue of Trump. Kind of reminds me of a biblical reference of a golden statue of a sheep, or was it a goat, that God and Moses didn't appreciate thousands of years ago. It seems as if nothing ever changes. It is all about gold and statues.

"The Golden Calf" is one of the most famous stories in the Old Testament.
The Israelites, newly freed from Egyptian slavery, have a crisis of faith while God is speaking with Moses on Mount Sinai. They melt down the golden jewelry to construct a physical god — a statue in the shape of a calf — to worship in place of their abstract, invisible deity. It’s a story about the allure of idolatry, how easy it is to abandon one’s commitments to principle in favor of shiny, easy falsehoods.
By the time Moses descended Mount Sinai, the Israelites had sacrificed to this idol and indulged in revelries. The situation had gotten out of control.
Trump appointee arrested in connection with Capitol riot
The FBI on Thursday arrested Federico Klein, a State Department aide, on charges related to the storming of the Capitol on Jan. 6, marking the first known instance of an appointee of President Donald Trump facing criminal prosecution in connection with the attempt to block Congress from certifying President Joe Biden’s victory. A Department spokesperson confirmed that position Friday morning, saying Klein resigned effective Jan. 21, 2021. She also said Klein started out at the department as a staff assistant with the Trump transition team.
An FBI lookout bulletin issued two weeks after the Capitol assault included a photo of Klein, prompting two tipsters to contact the FBI and finger him as the man in that picture, according to an affidavit filed in federal court in Washington.
The affidavit says video from police body-worn cameras on Jan. 6 shows Klein jamming a riot shield into doors at the Capitol as police were trying to secure them to keep the mob out. Klein was also heard on video trying to encourage others to clash with the police, the complaint says. Klein is charged with several felonies, including assault on police officers, interfering with police during civil disorder and obstruction of an official proceeding, as well as lesser offenses. No plea was entered Friday, but the magistrate detailed the charges Faruqui faces and noted that those of assaulting a police officer and obstructing Congress carry potential maximum sentences of 20 years in prison. https://www.politico.com/news/2021/0...ol-riot-473825

Some of these folks are gonna have a multi year hangover from there little Qanon party on Jan 6th,,!!
The guy who broke into Pelosi's office at Capitol riots threw a hissy fit in court
Richard Barnett, the Arkansas man who allegedly had a stun gun during the events of Jan. 6.and was infamously captured with a grin, a shrug and his feet on a desk in House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s office during the Capitol riots, threw a tantrum during what reporters described as routine court proceedings.
A New York Times report found that Barnett burst into a fit Thursday afternoon when Judge Christopher Cooper effectively extended his time in jail until May, when his next court trial will take place.
“I’ve been here a long time … another month … It’s not fair,” he exclaimed to the court, per KNWA in Arkansas. “You’re letting everyone else out … I need help.”
A few months will seem like a cake walk when he get 12 years,,!!
I was out for a walk today and noticed one home with a large banner draped from their second story saying something like "Trump for 2024. Take back America again."

That's a very inspiring flag with 5 star General Trump perched atop of the tank, weapon at the ready as he charges ashore from his latest golf cheating championship. It takes me back to the time in 1970 that General Trump led from the front, taking it up to the Viet Cong on the mean streets of Da Nang.....booyah!!
Oh, that's right... instead, he stayed home pleading for mercy for his sore feet (wook at the widdle bone spurrws) and blubbering that he would have made a "good general" whilst slagging off the veterans who did put their lives on the line as "losers" and "suckers". Ten-SHUN
I love those imbecile Republican MAGATs who cowtow to this man. They are as predictable as driveway pavers.
My son-in-law tells me that there are a lot more even crazier Trump posters on the internet, including one showing him on a landing craft invading a beach while shooting a machine gun. He said that they were too disgusting to attach to his email. On the other hand, I heard a political scientist being interviewed on the radio yesterday who said that Trump really doesn't have a clue what he wants to do to get elected again. It is all about his nutty supporters who are beating his drum for him. All Trump wants is to fleece his base of their cash to help fund his legal expenses. With him it is all about money and having adoring supporters around him to keep his ego inflated.

Richard, the timing of the interference is interesting*.
It seemed to start around the time that a 'member' who had an account for 4 years but never posted suddenly started posting. Funny that. Its like 'somebody' kept the account idling so they could swoop in all shucks full with fake Fox News pretending to be a fresh set of Christain ultra-right racist eyes.
Then that 'member' seemed to stop posting now that DABOO has bubbled back in from his exile in the swamp. If'n I were a conspiracy theorist I'd be hard pressed to find any other conclusion that Swamp Fox and Daboo were both ensconced in the same locale.
Might be wrong, just musing.

Over the past few months, since the demise of #45, I've dipped into the Forum on rare occasions and have also noticed a similarity and quickly came to the same conclusion regarding 'Swamp Fox'. I lost interest during last summer when admin seem to be getting too silly for their boots and I can't be bothered by the pettiness (especially after WildWilly passed) - life's too short. We are all grown men (mostly) and left that sort of child-like behaviour in the playground.
Isn't it strange how some like to control others, for what end?

100 days into the Biden presidency things seem to be going well. The coronavirus situation is on the improve with vaccinations well ahead of schedule and the US economy is looking like entering a positive phase better than any period in the previous four decades.
All it took was to get rid of the worst, most disgusting and vile president that ever lived - Donald J Trump. Thankfully the equally vile right wing christains and the brick-smart republicans will continue to die from covid-denial related illness and generalised stupidity. Happy happy, these end of days times of interest and excitement are upon them. Yabbadabbadoo!
