One that has come up on my radar is the Kawasaki Versys 650. Gosh, that's a beautiful bike.

3 weeks into my F900R and I luv it. Same color as in review with the upgraded options, several of which I didn't need but came with the bundle. Handles like a charm. Best street handling bike I've ever owned. (My DUC 749S would handle better if it were just twisties or the track). Nice exhaust note. They're right about the limited range gas tank. Does feel noticeably heavier than my F800ST for garage/parking lot maneuvers but once going, easy and nimble. Being vertically challenged I'm more aware of that than most.
A few omissions from article: The BMW Connectivity App is amazing and reports just about everything. Didn't dwell on the available ride modes but guess that's a given w/ modern bikes. Some of the modes not available in the base model they tested.

The thing that I am constantly impressed with on the new 900 engines is how incredibly smooth the throttle mapping is, even in dynamic mode. No snatchy throttle, no jerky low speed maneuvers, it's just smooth. I got so use to managing the clutch to keep things smooth on other bikes that I feel totally spoiled now.

It wasn't always that way on BMW motorcycles. Practice makes perfect as they say.

My 800GS was pretty good, but I did put a G2 throttle tamer on it along with an AF-XIED. My Gen3 SV was super sensitive and speaking of the Versys, my wife has a 2020 Vulcan S (same engine) and it's CRAZY sensitive, but that is one fun engine in a that little cruiser.
