Go Harley Go,,. I've seen a couple of reviews on the Pan-American, good reviews, a really strong engine, plenty of power, nice ergonomics and handling,,. Just really to bad they styled the front the way they have, they would do well to changes it sooner then later,,. They could copy just about any other ADV bike thats out right now with the possible exception of KTM and perhaps the Himalayan,,.

So, Lyle, you like the typical ATV front end styling, eh? I think it is downright ugly and looks like a bird's beak. So I vote thumbs up on the Harley PanAm 1250. But otherwise I agree with you: Go Harley Go. They are one of the world's drivers in the motorcycle industry and the way they go, so goes all the rest of it/us. Good for them.

I have seen a few Pan Americas at Alice's Restaurant over the past few months, including an entire truckload that was there during the introduction of the models, which were being offered for test rides.

Richard, the entire category of ADV bikes is a study in psychology to me. From the very beginning, I thought the front-end "beaks" were ugly. Plus, most are too big for at least half of the riders in the world. Somehow the m/c industry has convinced us (the riding public) that we have to have them to be real riders. Probably only in the US is there enough of a mix of roads (off-road and high-speed pavement) to make them very useful. I have ridden the big GS--on pavement--and it is a wonderful bike and comfortable for cross-country trips. Too tall for me to feel safe but great bike nonetheless. But off pavement a smaller bike is more practical. Norely (Itchy Boots) puts the lie to the idea that bigger is better.

An ADV is the SUV of the motorcycle world. Perhaps most will never see an unpaved road but it returns motorcycling to a less-extreme riding position. Not feet-forward. Not lay-down over the gas tank. Practical and comfortable.

Harley-Davidson has to evolve or die. New chrome each year is not enough.

I like it! Not sure how practical it is but then again I have seen many big Harley's off road in films like Electra Glide in Blue (a must see film btw).

Exactly! And adv bikes usually come with good after-market support and a community of interest.
