It ain't broke yet, but I can fix that!

Let me improve it until it's inoperative!

I'm leaving from Gainesville Friday morning about 8:30--9am up route 60. I'm on the North shores of lake Lanier, so we could meet where the 400 superslab crosses 60, or if you're coming up 9, where 9 meets 19. I could be there by 9:30 or so. What say you?

I see on my paper map that 575N would be the logical route North for you, but it is a divided highway leading to other very straight roads. Routes 60, 9 and 19 North has some excellent roller-coaster mountain roads that IMO are better than the Dragon because they don't have as many narrow lane, no passing lanes or 1st gear blind curves -and- you can stay in the upper 3 gears as you take it to the edge on well paved roads. Those roads become 129, which IS the Dragon much further North. I have ridden my planned route 3 different times in the recent past and it is memorable, to say the least!

    Hi CycleRob,

I'm very close to GA400, so I can meet you at route 60 at 9:30 on Friday morning. I've traveled that route once or twice. It's a nice ride!

There is a gas station on the right side coming north at GA400/Route 60 intersection. I can meet you there.

    Hi MGB,

The gas station on the right side coming north on GA400. It's called the cupboard. It would be awesome if you joined us!

    Windy,

I believe the route in the link below is the one we will be taking. (CycleRob, correct me if I'm wrong)

    http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&sour...,1.781158&z=10

It should take about 1 hour 20 minutes to ride to Murphy from GA400/Route 60. According to google maps, we should be in Murphy around 10:50.

Let us know the exact location to meet you. Somewhere on the route would be best.

9:30 will be cutting it close for me. I have to pick up my maintenance medication from the Gainesville post office on rt 53 at 8:30 when it opens. You are taking the same route I am going north (19 to 129) so I'll catch up if you're not at the (Shell?) gas station at 60/400 junction. Don't wait for me. There is an excellent shady rest area at the top of Blood Mountain with a water fountain & a regular men's room. I usually stop there to take a wiz and top off the water bottle. Those roads are as good as any you'll ever ride on!! Just watch out for gravel washes across the road in the curves after the heavy rain we had 2 days ago.
