The original Schwartz Wald Troll
I tried a search here for posting Pics to give Teep a voyeuristic thrill. Butt, I gets nothing useful. I tried the same thing on another site and I get info that says I need to go to some photo bucket or shit bucket or some BS.
Do all you photo cognizant folks really belong a a buncha sites to do optical extensions of yourselves?
I really try to avoid anything with deeper personal extension than a happy place such as this.
1. the search engine here sucks and
2. I think I'll not be posting any pics because Luddites haven't moved on from cave paintings.

Yay, I get to help you help me!
Here's a little "how-to" on using the attachments uploading feature of Ron's site. There are screen grabs here, to show you what to look for. My instructions are in BOLD. You might want to open a second browser window, so you can follow along on one, as you do it on the other.
Under the Quick Reply text box, you'll note a "go advanced" button. Click that.
That's going to show you a bunch of stuff you can ignore, but look for the section in "Additional Options" for the "Manage Attachments" button. Click that - warning it will pop open a window!
On the pop up window, look for the "Add Files" button and click it.
Now's the tricky part, because it's different on every computer/browser, but you just need to "choose file" and then "navigate" to the location of the digital pix/file you'd like to share and select it.
If you manage to do that, you'll note "no file chosen" will change to the file name of the pix. Hit the "upload" button and wait. Your file is transferring from your computer to Ron's server here.
Once that's completed, you'll note the pop'd up window has your pix listed under "Attachments" at the bottom. Click the "Insert Inline" button, that will add "text" to your reply/post, that will allow for the display of your pix here!
There are some "parameters" which might throw you a curve along the way, for instance, file size or file format. So if something goes wrong, just drop a note here, and we'll see if we can work it out somehow.

Greg, I look for the paperclip to expedite me to the photo attachment option. Selecting ADD FILE then takes you to a standard get a file (file/photo/picture same thing) from some folder somewhere, such as a picture library. Almost all my photos come from my cell phone nowadays so I always get them from my phone once I hook the phone to the desktop with a USB cable (and select device "K" in my case). You find a picture you want you select if and that moves it to your folder shown by Teep's work as the image labeled FILE UPLOAD MANAGER. . .that's your library that Ron will host for you forever. Move files/photos/pics from the FILE UPLOAD MANAGER to the area shown by Teep's work as ATTACHMENTS - which will then load them for your insertion into a post when you hit DONE, etc.
Hope that helps
p.s. nice work Teep

Hiya Teep, I've followed your instructions on how to load photo's but don't get passed the "add files" section. I select add files, browse, select the file I want and click add file. The "thinking circle" appears next to the blue button with a question mark, and that's all it does. I started off using a JPEG file of 250K, cut it down to 101K, have now tried using a Jpeg of 71K and still no joy. When I try to upload the photo the "thinking circle" appears just sits there - thinking - 10mins? should upload within 10mins.
What have I missed out or maybe what box isn't ticked in say, settings or whatever?
Would appreciate you help.
Cheers

Try a different browser perhaps Terry?

Don't click Add File a second time, select Upload.

I just tested it and it works for me with Opera on Windows7.
A simple way around the problem is hosting the picture elswhere (at a site that allows external linking like Picasa, Flickr and may more) copy the 'external link' on that site for the picture you want to use.
Use the button in the 'Advanced' reply box I marked with a red circle:
and a box appears where you can paste the 'external link' of the picture.
Now hit the button 'Preview Post to check if it works and if your picture has the right size (a width of 800 pics is available) complete your message and post it.

Thanks, I'm using Windows 7, Windows Explorer and Windows Internet Explorer. I'll set up a Flicker account shortly, that'll solve a lot of problems.

Hi Terry,
Indeed as others suggest it may be something specific about your setup that's preventing you from using the attachments thingie.
I think your Flickr work around is smart, as there's more than one way to skin a cat. Here kitty kitty.

Because you did it wrong or because technology hates you.
I still can't find the set up disc for my camera so I can't down load to my computer. My phone is a hand crank so I can't work with that either.

It is really not that complicated. In a nutshell, here's what you're doing.
- Store your pictures somewhere on the web.
- "Share" those pictures wherever you're storing them. If they aren't "shared", then only you can see them.
- Write in this simple code in your post. [img][/img]
- Insert the link between the two ][ brackets.
- Double-check your post with another browser to make sure everyone else can see the pictures.
So let's go into this with some more detail. Understand the concept behind why you're doing it, and it'll become easy with a couple tries.
1. Store your pictures. You need a place to store them on the web. I try to plan for the future too. If I delete the picture on the web, the picture is deleted on the forum.
I feel like Google is the evil empire, but you can use them for your benefit. If you have a GMail account, you get access to their Photo storage as well. If you don't have a GMail account, then set one up. You don't have to use it for email; just use the photo storage for your benefit. There's a storage (size) limit for the free account, but you can easily get by that by letting Google Photos set the resolution when it stores the pictures for you. Then there's no limit.
Where to find Google Apps
Google Photos
To upload pictures, just drag them onto the Google Photos window in your browser. It's that easy.
2. "Share" those pictures. Simply storing them online isn't enough. The simple way to do this is to select the pictures you want to post and add them to a "Shared" folder.
The first thing to do, is to "Select" your picture. Click on an image slowly to select the first one. The picture below with the blue checkmark is selected.
Look at the top of the window and "Share" the picture.
Add the picture(s) you selected to either a "New shared album" or "Add to shared album", i.e., one that already exists.
This is an extremely important part. You want to "Copy Image Location". This was done with Firefox. Other browsers use similar, but slightly different wording. You do not want the URL at the top of the browser window. That's useless.
3. Write this code into your post where you want the picture. [img][/img] If I'm doing a lot of pictures, I'll often just copy and paste this several times so I'm not retyping it constantly.
4. Insert the link you copied when you selected "Copy Image Location".
The pasted Image Location.
5. Double-check your post. A common mistake to make is to not share the pictures. You can see them in your browser...but you're signed into that account. I'll open another browser like Microsoft Edge where I'm not signed into anything and then go to the new post I just made. If I can view it correctly, all is well. If not, check your work. A common mistake is to copy the URL from the Title Bar and paste that.

always hit and miss for me trying to upload a photo, most times won't work... Bl**dy tech why can't it be straight forward? why would a jpg file be an invalid file type? Is there a max file size?
-
If there is a maximum file size for a photo I haven't tripped over it yet.
