Motorcycle.com has just published this "sponsored" product article regarding a device called Keep-it-Klean K&N-type air filter cleaner. I post it here as I don't think the device is all that useful, but I got a kick out of watching it work and wondering if cleaning an air filter in a washing machine is really worth the trouble and expense. Frankly, I have never had much difficulty cleaning a K&N filter using their cleaning spray and a garden hose. Works for me. But if you like gadgets to do your work for you and don't want to drop your dirty and oily filter into your family washing machine instead of cleaning it by hand, you can invest in one of these: https://www.motorcycle.com/features/...r-cleaner.html

Hats off to the guy for effort, but K&N spray cleaner and a 3 gallon bucket of warm water works pretty well. Probably won't see those in many baja trophy truck pits. I could be wrong!

K&N users are gullible. Can’t fault a capitalist for exploiting.

Consider this: you can’t afford to pay dealer mechanic rates to wash a K&N. New paper filter is less expensive. Even DIY. Cost of the K&N filter plus 5 cleaning kits, 30 minutes to clean and oil times 5, vs the cost if 6 paper filters?

And will you ever use 6 paper air filters? At 70,000 miles I installed the 3rd filter my FJR has had. Could have just knocked the loose dust out but for $18 and my labor to get to the darned thing, “screw it!”
